Admission Process to Study in USA

Many important steps need to be completed within a certain time frame to be considered for study in the USA. We have devised some simple steps for you to follow to study in the USA, along with a list of important documents you will need:

STEP 1: Select 8-10 colleges of your choice.

STEP 2: Submit your application.

STEP 3: Gather supporting documents such as academic transcripts, results of previous institutions, English proficiency test results, CV, statement of purpose (SOP), Letter of Recommendation (LOR), etc. Check out the requirements section of the institutions you are interested in.

Step 4: Create an account on the university’s website to submit your application.

Step 5: Some universities might ask for a WES evaluation of your mark sheet (to ensure that you are capable of studying in the US). You may have to wait up to two months for your mark sheet to be evaluated

STEP 6: As soon as you submit all the required documents, you will be notified and instructed to pay the academic fee.

STEP 7: You will now receive an I-20 form and an acceptance letter which will allow you to apply for a student visa.

Student Visa to Study in USA

This is the most challenging part of studying in the USA. To make your dream of studying in the USA a reality, you must pay attention. To avoid any type of hassle in entering the country, international students must possess the right type of student visa. The first thing you need to know about Indian student visas is that they come in three types:

F-1 Visa: Available to students who have been accepted to a full-time academic degree program at an American university or college. In addition, if a student’s study load exceeds 18 hours a week, this visa will also be necessary.

M-1 Visa: This visa is intended for students enrolled in vocational or non-academic programs.

J-1 Visa: Students enrolled in educational exchange programs are eligible for this visa. Students in such programs remain enrolled at their home colleges or universities while studying abroad. Students return home after completing a fixed exchange agreement to obtain their qualifications. As an exchange student, you must apply for an F-1 visa if your program lasts longer than 18 hours a week.

USA Visa Application Process

After selecting the type of visa that fits you according to the program, the next step is to apply for it timely to pursue overseas education in the USA. The following are some simple steps and the important documents you will need to apply for your US visa:

  1. Collect all the essential documents like:
    • A valid passport
    • Your travel itinerary (if already purchased flights)
    • Your CV must be up to date.
    • Provide all the information about your previous education history
    • Your SEVIS ID. SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is a way of keeping data of all international students. Your SEVIS ID will be printed on your I-20 form.     • Letter of acceptance of the institution in which you’re going to study in USA
  2. Please apply for the visa online here after completing the above formalities: DS-160 Visa Application Form
  3. Once you have filled out the form, print the confirmation page and bring it to the interview. You will be required to attend biometrics and other interviews.
  4. There is a 120-day waiting period before you can apply for an F-1 student visa.

Work Visa Conversion in USA

Upon completion of your course, you can stay in the country for up to 60 days. Thus, you should begin planning your next step right when you enter the final semester. As a foreign student, you can only get your VISA converted to an H-1B if you plan to stay longer in the country. If you wish to do the same, you must find an employer who is likely to file an employment-based permanent residency application with USCIS.H-1B visa candidates must note that they cannot obtain the visa unless they are hired by an American organization. In addition to taking an undergraduate or postgraduate training course, you can also get the VISA extended through Optional Practical Training.
